Wiig as Lana. (via Hulu) It was only a matter of time before the writers at Saturday Night Live addressed the most controversial moment of the show's season: Lana Del Rey's shaky performance on January 14, which drew snipes from Juliette Lewis, NBC's Brian Williams, and just about every hipster on Twitter.

Kristen Wiig slipped on a long, honey-hued wig and a push-up bra to play the sulty, pouty chanteuse, interrupting Seth Meyers' Weekend Update bit to talk about her performance on the show. Delivering her lines in a soft, dull monotone, Wiig's Rey mused, "I thought [I sang two songs], but based on the public's response [to my performance], I must have clubbed a baby seal while singing the Taliban national anthem."
Wiig's spoof was not entirely critical of Rey, but rather tongue in cheek, noting, "These critics are absolutely right. The music stage on Saturday Night Live is hallowed ground, and I failed to reach the high bar set by past guests like Bubba Sparxxx, the Baha Men, and Shaggy."
The one thing lacking in Wiig's portrayal of Lana was her imitation of the singer's vocal delivery. Wiig belted out a bizarre note or two, failing to capture the smoky affectation that had so many critics confused last month.
