Jane Fonda calls for Hollywood to break glass ceiling

Jane Fonda has called for change in Hollywood to allow more women to land top jobs. The veteran actress was the toast of the Hollywood Reporter's annual Power 100 Women in Entertainment event in Beverly Hills, California on Wednesday as she received the coveted Sherry Lansing Leadership Award for her film work and philanthropy.

Former Paramount Pictures chief Lansing paid tribute to her "idol" as she presented the prize, and Fonda used her acceptance speech to urge Hollywood bosses to hire more women in behind-the-scenes roles.
She told the audience, "Until more women wield the power to decide what movies and TV shows get made, Hollywood culture won't really yield all the fascinating complexities that are the realities of women's lives. Until then, we're accepting supporting roles in an industry many of us have devoted our lives to."The event also included a tribute from Kirsten Dunst to late Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin, who lost her battle with cancer in June. Last year's Lansing award was handed to British actress Dame Helen Mirren.
