Spain’s Penelope Cruz, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress last year, has been nominated again.

In the same category for her role in the musical “Nine,” her third candidacy for one of the coveted statuettes.

Cruz is going up against Mo’Nique (“Precious”), Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick (both for their roles in “Up in the Air”)

And Maggie Gyllenhaal (“Crazy Heart”), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said Tuesday at the traditional ceremony to announce the Oscar nominees.

Despite the success represented merely by being nominated, the chances that the Madrid native will win.

The award at the 82nd edition of the Oscars on March are quite a bit lower than in 2009, when she was the favorite.

Pamela Anderson is drawing plans to buy houses in England after falling in love with the country during her last visit.

The former Baywatch star, who is presently living with her sons in a trailer park while her California home is being renovated, was said to be thinking of shelling out on two new properties.“Pammy loves it in England and is looking at buying two houses, one in London and one by the sea,” said Toby St Just, her agent.

Kim Kardashian wants to move to Miami. The reality TV star - who resides in Los Angeles - is currently on holiday in Florida and is having such a good time.

She is considering buying a home there. She tweeted: "I officially need to buy a spot in Miami! Its sooo beautiful here! (sic)"

Although Kim is enjoying her holiday, she experienced a nightmare journey getting there from Los Angeles. Tweeting while on the aircraft, she posted:

"Our plane had mechanical problems so we still haven't taken off. Just switched planes, this is annoying. "I fell asleep.

On the plane before we took off then woke up to everyone getting off, I thought we were in Miami but nope still LA." Staff eventually sorted out the planes.

So Kim and the rest of the passengers could safely take off, but the 29-year-old beauty was bemused by airline staff's procedures in looking for potential aircraft problems.

First on TVNewser: HLN's "Showbiz Tonight" is moving to 5pmET and will now air as a live program beginning Monday, March 29. The entertainment show will continue to run at 11pmET with updates if necessary.

SBT, which celebrates five years on HLN later this month, is produced out of New York and his hosted by A.J. Hammer. Brooke Anderson has been named co-host and will anchor from Hollywood.

"Showbiz Tonight" originally aired at 7pmET on the former Headline News, but was bumped to late nights when Glenn Beck debuted on the network in 2006.

Beck has since taken his show to Fox News. "Showbiz Tonight" had its best ratings year ever in 2009. Prime News continues at 6pmET with Mike Galanos. An entertainment show called "Showbiz Today" aired on CNN for 17 years ending in 2001.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie showed a united front at a showbiz bash at the weekend.US reports last week claimed the couple, who have six children together, were on the rocks. James Cameron's "Avatar" will put a seventh notch in its domestic box office belt this weekend. The sci-fi epic looks likely to register more than $25 million through Sunday, and that should be plenty to top the weekend charts despite two potentially appealing wide openers set to hit theaters Friday.

Mel Gibson's kidnap thriller "Edge of Darkness" and the romantic comedy "When in Rome" appear headed for bows in the low to mid-teen millions. Likely to draw older-skewing audiences, "Darkness" represents Gibson's first starring role in a film since 2002's "Signs." With the actor thus lacking a direct connection with any younger fan base, it's perhaps unsurprising that must-see interest has been slack in prerelease tracking surveys.

However, in the old days, the two major parties were much more diverse. The Democratic Party included Southern conservatives.

While the Republican Party, the party of Lincoln, included Yankees who, today, would at most be centrist Democrats.

Hollywood couple Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are digging deep to help the victims of earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

They’ve each promised to donate $50,000-a-year until 2015 to rebuild the country’s schools.

The Spanish stars joined British writer-director Paul Haggis at his Los Angeles home, Sunday.

When he hosted a celebrity brunch for his charitable organisation Artists for Peace and Justice to raise funds for Haiti.

Penelope and Javier were among 100 guests including Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Maria Bello.

And Gerard Butler at the event, where they were treated to a performance by Sheryl Crow.

The brunch raised $4.5 million for the Caribbean nation’s relief effort, including Penelope and Javier’s personal promises to support the country as it works to rebuild its school system.

Jon Voight has branded rumours of an impending split between his daughter Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as "nonsense".

The Oscar-winning actor - who has a notoriously difficult relationship with Jolie - insists the couple are staying together and there is no truth in the recent claims suggesting otherwise.

When quizzed about the break-up rumours, Voight replied: "Nonsense. It’s all made up stuff."

At the weekend, it was claimed Pitt and Jolie, who raise six children together, were set to separate after signing legal papers which equally split their $US330 million ($369 million) fortune and custody of the kids.

However, sources say that, while the couple, who have been dating for five years, did sign the papers, they did so only as a precaution.

One source told Life and Style magazine: "Brad and Angelina had a meeting with a top law firm in Los Angeles in December, where they worked out terms of a legal document similar to a pre-nup.

Brad Pitt has reportedly shelled out 1.1 million dollars on a bachelor pad to help him sort out his split from Angelina Jolie. The Hollywood Hills house, built in 1920, is complete with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a bar area. A cave is built into the foundations.

“The house oozes character,” News.com.au quoted a source, as saying. The insider added: “Brad has had his eye on it for some time but he decided now was the right time to buy because he wanted a place to call his own.

“He needs somewhere quiet that doesn’t have memories of Angie where he can be alone and think about what he does next.

According to one report, Jolie gave up on Pitt because of his laddish lifestyle. American sources say the pair had been trying desperately to avoid a split since the last 12 months.

Pitt and Jolie are already believed to be talking to lawyers about splitting their 332 million dollar fortune and sharing the custody of their six children.
